New Year - New Resolutions
I finally decided to quit smoking (again) as one of my New Year’s resolutions. It’s a bad habit that I have been trying to stop for sometime now. I reached out to friends on social media to ask for support as the cravings got worse and I got one of the best pieces of advice: quit every day. Remember to live in each moment and build positive habits.
Excellence is not a single act, it’s a habit
The difference between successful and unsuccessful people is action. Everyone has an idea - it’s those who have the patience to put in the work that get rewarded.
A few weeks ago, a friend called me to say that she started a new business. Like most entrepreneurs, she jumped in head first and is working to figure out how to grow her new company. One minute, she’s working in public relations and thinking that might be her career. Now, she’s running a clothing company out of her bedroom. How do I know that she’s going to succeed? It's because of the habits that got her to where she is now. It’s her determination in setting goals and sticking to them. Now she can go from calling herself a PR Specialist to a small business owner.
Starting a new business, or sticking to a resolution, is never easy. Set daily goals and get into the habit of a routine.
Freelancers and small business owners always have a difficult time finding a positive work / life balance. Taking care of myself is something I had to start focusing on towards the end of last year. As 2017 came to an end, I found myself in the same place I was at the end of 2016 - burnt out, filled with anxiety and stressed. Now with a new year, it’s time to break into better habits. Routines that help meet my goals, build my brand and connect with new clients.
Most people forget about their resolutions by the end of January. Why? They're not sincere. Who doesn't want to lose weight, eat healthier or travel more? Set a positive goal that doesn't just impact you but ties into what your passionate about.
Resolutions for 2018
My top New Year's resolutions: never think about another cigarette and get back to updating this blog. I'll be the first to admit that I haven't kept up posts as often as I would like. I am also working on a new vlog, so be sure to stay tuned for updates on that.
No matter what your resolutions are, remember to stay focused and stay away from bad habits.
